Remote Mainframe Operations Support functions

SPAN is providing stable and reliable operations to the customer community running business critical systems. The operations support model is fully aligned with ITIL methodology. The latest IBM mainframe Z 10 servers with 17000 MIPS along with high availability storage devices with 640 TB disk and 3000 TB tape capacity are installed at Oslo, the capital of Norway to fulfill the fast growing and ever changing customer demand. There is capacity of handling 80000 workstations for remote operation.

The SPAN Mainframe IT Infrastructure & Operations team is responsible for providing remote support from Bangalore, the IT hub of India for the customers spread across Nordic regions. The following are the key activities carried out by SPAN Mainframe Operations team.

  • Provide support to the customers across Scandinavian region covering Norway, Sweden, and Denmark
  • Consistently delivering cost effective on time quality service support using ITIL framework
  • 24 x 7 operations & system programming support for IBM Mainframe z/OS mainframe systems through onsite/offshore service support model
    • Z/OS implementation, upgrade, and support
    • CICS transaction system maintenance and Support
    • DB2 Database administration & support
    • MS administration & support
    • MQ administration & support
  • Enterprise Monitoring
  • Production Scheduling & Control Level 1, Level 2 & Level 3 Incidents, Problems, and Change management
  • Manage, monitor performance, and utilization of resources, provide technical analysis, reporting to management including utilization, availability and response time
  • Make recommendations and implement best practices improvements for mainframe systems environment including system optimization, change methodologies and operational procedures
  • Assist Mainframe Management team with technology and capacity planning in accordance with business need and latest technologies
  • Perform testing of new version and upgrades for systems, subsystems, code or products Manage and control data storage by establishing, implementing, and adhering to storage management policies, standards, and procedures
  • Provide support in building disaster recovery plan based on defined requirements, procedures, and assist with execution of disaster recovery exercises
  • Work with in-house IT support groups on security, hardware configuration, and system and application backup/recovery procedures
  • Create and maintain complete systems and technical documentation in relation to scope of services and responsibilities
  • Building competency across latest technology & skill areas
